Letter, 1920 Jun. 9, 983 Charles River Road, Cambridge, Mass. Lowes writes to Conkling and praises her poetry and that of her daughter Hilda. -- Letter, 1922 Jun. 14, 983 Charles River Road, Cambridge, Mass. Lowe responds to a request of Mrs. Conkling's to allow Hilda to use extracts from Lowe's letter in a work. He refuses "to allow extracts from private letters to be printed" and will make no exception "even for Hilda."

Conkling graduated from Smith College in 1899, was further educated in Germany and France and taught school in Connecticut and New York. Lowes was an American scholar of English literature, especially the poetry of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. At the time of these letters he was professor at Harvard University.
